This poem which I like very much, points with bright light neon arrows to the reality which is so very opposite. The tastes that we acquire as we age seem to me to be for truth and beauty. Sampling what is really good even if it's just the appetizers. Savoring little bits of being loved that are sometimes hard to swallow. Accepting care in drops from a little dark blue vial without swatting it away. Taking little tastes of what we may have spent a lifetime refusing with a wave of that dismissive hand. The poet is right. Acquiring tastes is a testing business.
